Seven wonders of Portugal

We live in a wonderful country, and there’s no doubt about it… We have great natural views, but also fantastic monuments, imagined and built by the human race.
This year the new Seven Wonders of the World will be elected. Beautiful monuments with great histories, in an event held in Lisbon, our capital.
To take advantage of this worldwide event, Portugal is also selecting the seven Portuguese, because in spite of being a small country, we have beautiful places with fantastic monuments.

There are 21 finalists, but there are some favorites:

Castelo de Guimarães
Castelo de Marvão
Castelo de Óbidos
Convento de Cristo
Convento e Basílica de Mafra
Fortaleza de Sagres
Fortificações de Monsaraz
Igreja de São Francisco
Igreja e Torre dos Clérigos
Mosteiro da Batalha
Mosteiro de Alcobaça
Mosteiro dos Jerónimos
Paço Ducal de Vila Viçosa
Universidade de Coimbra
Palácio de Mateus
Palácio Nacional da Pena
Palácio Nacional de Queluz
Ruínas de Conímbriga
Templo Romano de Évora
Torre de Belém

The final results will be advanced, on the 7th July 2007 in Luz Stadium, simultaneously with the results of the most amazing places and monuments of the world.
We invite you to participate in this election, and of course to visit our country, that has great climate, hospitable and warm people and of course beautiful landscapes…
